5 Ways to Earn MORE Bucks with Swagbucks

I love Swagbucks. It’s got to be one of my favorite ways to earn money EVAH! I’m not getting rich off Swagbucks, but it’s totally free money for practically zero effort on my part, so I call that a WIN!

{If you haven’t signed up for Swagbucks yet, go sign yourself up, then come back to this post! If you want to learn more about the Swagbucks basics, here is my Intro to Swagbucks post.}

In addition to straight-up searching the web, Swagbucks also offers other ways to earn “bucks”. My favorites are the QUICK and EASY ones, since who has time for complicated Swagbucks scenarios!

1. Download the toolbar

Downloading the toolbar is a MUST if you want to maximize your Swagbuck earning potential. Here’s what you do:

  • Log into the Swagbucks homepage
  • Click on the toolbars tab at the top of the page
  • Click on the big purple Download button

The toolbar works on Firefox, Safari and Internet Explorer.

There are two reasons I love the Swagbucks toolbar. First, it lets you search with Swagbucks without having to open a separate window. See that little blue & green SB logo and window on the left side of this picture? (You may need to squint!)

Just click in that white window, type what you’re looking for and press enter. EASY!

The second reason I love the tool bar is because the Swag Guy (that little red faced guy in the middle of your toolbar) often gives out free codes to earn a handful of points at a time. If there’s a new code – a number 1 (for 1 of 1 messages) will pop into that bracket to the right of the Swag Guy. Just click on him, get your code, plug it into the Swagbucks homepage and you’re done!

2. Follow Swagbucks on Twitter

If you’re signed up for Twitter, go follow Swagbucks to get exclusive codes. Just like the codes from the Swag Guy, most of these are very straight forward – get them, enter them, earn them. Done in less than 10 seconds. Sometimes they do these scavenger hunt type deals with more complicated clues to “unearth” the codes. Honestly, I can’t be bothered. But if you have the time and enjoy a little mental gymnastics, then go for it! Either way, while you’re following Swagbucks on Twitter, you might want to do the same with Kosher on a Budget (*wink*).

3. Buy Deal-a-Day deals directly from Swagbucks.

Remember when I told you about the Barnes & Noble Groupon last week and mentioned that you could buy it through Swagbucks? If you bought that particular deal, you earned yourself over 300 Swagbucks — which, in my mind, saved you about $3.30 – since that’s 2/3rd of the way to a $5 Amazon gift card. Not all deal a day sites are advertised on Swagbucks, and not all of their deals are represented. But if you’re planning to pick up a daily deal, it’s worth a few seconds to click over to the Swagbucks homepage and see if it pops up in that top rotating image.

4. Take advantage of Mega Swagbucks Friday

Every Friday is “Mega Swagbucks Friday”, which means you can earn even more bucks than normal for the same searches. Last Friday, I won my biggest haul ever — 46 points for one search! But I have friends who have one as many as 80 points for a single search. Basically this doesn’t require anything special, other than making sure you are searching with Swagbucks everyday – and especially on Fridays!

5. Referrals

Truthfully, this is probably the easiest and the best way to earn Swagbucks. If you do nothing else, do this!

Here’s how it works – get your personalized referral code from Swagbucks, send it out to your friends, neighbors, family, etc. and encourage them to sign up for Swagbucks and start winning free ‘bucks.

Once they sign up with your referral code and start earning, you will 1 point for every 1 point they earn, up to their first 1,000 points. Only points earned through searching count toward referral points.

After they hit their first 1,000 points (which is basically worth $11 at Amazon — for them, and you!), they “graduate” and you cease to earn points for them. They, of course, keep right on earning. Even if you only get 5 people to sign up under you, that’s still $55 in FREE Amazon gift cards, just for sharing the Swagbuck love with the people you love.

You may have noticed other buck-earning opportunities, like surveys, polls and even Swagbucks TV, where you watch a little 2-minute commercial or video and earn a few bucks for your time. These are all great and completely legitimate ways to earn Swagbucks – and I’ve done them once or twice myself. But my standard for being called a “favorite” way to earn is that it has to be easy AND quick.

Tell me: What’s your favorite part about Swagbucks? Are you loving the Swag?

Disclosure: The links to sign-up with Swagbucks in this post and on other posts on my blog contain my referral code. So far, 100 of you have signed up with Swagbucks and a handful of you have already “graduated”. I very much appreciate you signing up under my link! In addition to getting some free diapers with $5 gift cards to Amazon, I am now saving up for a $300 gift card to the Apple store (since my trusty MacBook isn’t going to last forever!).

Comments

  1. also there is a great website http://sc-s.com/ which basically tells you what the swag codes are. Also the widget is a great tool!

  2. Has anybody had luck with the surveys? So far, I have spent a lot of time answering questions and being disqualified — no points awarded. Is there a trick for the surveys?

    • I’ve had the same problem with the surveys. I’ve given up on them. I don’t mind answering one or two qualifying questions, but they keep you going for awhile and then tell you you’re not qualified. Very annoying.

    • Did you fill out the profile surveys?

You can only fill them out one time, but you definitly qualify and definitly get the SB!

      • thanks–i appreciate the suggestion…finishing these profile surveys (which I started a few weeks ago) will put me within 20 points of an Amazon card! That’s with ZERO purchases made… just a lot of searching, daily polls, and more searching.

  3. There is another site, http://www.sbcodez.com, that has all current swag codes on it. I have it set up to send me a text whenever there is a swag code, so if I’m anywhere near the computer I get the swagbucks!

  4. I couldnt find the place to put the bigtimebucks when I signed up, can you please help me find it? thanks!
