Oh no. icon sad A Warning for Target Shoppers | Credit & Debit Cards Possibly Compromised

For anyone who has shopped at Target since Thanksgiving, please, check your card statements (and/or bank account if you paid with a debit card).

“Approximately 40 million credit and debit card accounts may have been impacted between Nov. 27 and Dec. 15, 2013,” Target said Thursday in a statement on its website.

According to the statement:

Target alerted authorities and financial institutions immediately after it was made aware of the unauthorized access, and is putting all appropriate resources behind these efforts.  Among other actions, Target is partnering with a leading third-party forensics firm to conduct a thorough investigation of the incident.

It looks like the issue is in-store purchases only, not those made online. And it appears to have possibly affected any credit and/or debit card used, not just Target store ones. Get more information here.

If you suspect unauthorized activity, Target is asking you to contact them immediately at: 866-852-8680.

Thanks, MJ and Judith for the heads up.
