Amazon has created a new billing option on my beloved Amazon Prime membership.
Rather than paying $79 per year – which I think made some people a bit nervous, as it “sounds” like a lot of money up-front – you can now opt for a month-to-month membership for only $7.99/month.
Let’s do the math on this.
If you sign up for Amazon Prime the year – which you can still do, you will pay $79 all at once. Amortize that over 12 months and we’re talking $6.58 per month.
$6.58 for a whole bunch of really awesome benefits – not the least of which is free two-day shipping on, oh, just about anything you could want or need.
My husband and I figured out that this was definitely worth it for us.
But maybe you don’t think you’ll make good on that $79 investment. Maybe you don’t order quite as frequently as I do from Amazon. (Seriously, I’m practically on a mission to never shop in a brick-and-mortar store again.)
I get it.
But let me tell you, this is the “SEASON” to get killer deals online. Toys. Clothing. Jewelry. Electronics. Household items. Toiletries. You name it, Amazon will have a deal on it.
And wouldn’t you like to get that deal shipped to you in two days? For FREE?
Yeah, I thought so.
So, here’s what I’m going to suggest – sign up now for a one-month Amazon Prime membership at $7.99. Maybe extend that into December – ‘cuz you know, it’s the “SEASON” and all.
If your online shopping slows down in January, let the monthly membership lapse.
If you’ve fallen in love with the free-shipping-free-movies-and-TV-shows-and-free-Kindle-books by then, go ahead and sign up for the whole year.
Either way, you’re a winner.
Smart, Amazon. Very, very smart.
