Budgeting Basics | PerkStreet Cash-Back Debit Card {Virtual Cash Envelopes + $25 Bonus}

Last week I told you how we use our Capital One 360 Checking Account for a virtual grocery budget cash envelope.

Well, here’s one more option I came across: PerkStreet Financial.

I actually learned about PerkStreet from Dave Ramsey, who is a big proponent of this cash-back debit card. Yes, it’s a debit card, that you link to your checking account, and earn 2% cash back on your purchases.

Right now, PerkStreet is sweetening the pot with a $25 cash back bonus when you sign up for a debit card.

Here’s how it works:

1. Apply for a PerkStreet Financial Debit MasterCard® online by 11:59PM EST, December 25, 2011. Fund the account with at least $25.

2. Use your card to make 3 purchases within 30 days of opening your account.

3. Get credited with $25 to your Perks Account within 10 business days of your third purchase.

I’m thinking that if you want to have more than one virtual cash envelope, you could even set up one account with PerkStreet and one account with Capital One 360.

  1. I already have one of these accounts and it’s awesome. Even though I’m only a college kid and don’t have all that much money to spend in the first place, I still find it incredibly useful and worthy!
