Calling All Clevelanders: Great Kosher Co-op Is Coming to Town

KC Kosher Co-Op

Moving to Cleveland from Kansas City a year and a half ago meant my family had a lot more options for kosher groceries.

But even with two butchers, more grocery store selections and a robust kosher meat department at Costco, I have still missed co-op shopping. You see, one of my favorite ways to save on my kosher food budget when I lived in Kansas City was to buy in bulk through the KCKosherCoop.

So you can imagine how excited I was earlier this week when one of the owners of the Co-op (and a dear friend of mine) emailed to let me know that the KCKosherCoop has just come to Cleveland.

And the Passover order deadline is this Thursday (2/25), so it’s time to start shopping for Pesach.

The KCKosherCoop carries more than 5,000 items on the website and they are ALL Kosher for Passover. Delivery to Cleveland will be April 6th (deadline and delivery is so early because suppliers require orders well in advance for Passover).

Becoming a Co-op Member is free — you can just go here to register and receive emails about order deadlines and specials.

I’m warning you, it can be overwhelming to shop at a co-op at first. With so many products, there is an awful lot to choose between. I still don’t feel like I know everything they offer, but I have my regular items that I always order.

And I always check out their current specials. This month, the KCKosherCoop is offering:

  • $0.99/lb chicken wings
  • $7.99/22 oz loaf Ungar’s Gefilte
  • $4.9 per loaf A&B Fresh & Frozen Gefilte Fish (in bags)
  • $2.48/lb chicken leg quarters
  • $7.94/lb 1st cut brisket
  • $2.98/pack Oberlander’s Chocolate Fingers

If you don’t want to purchase a full case (sometimes you just don’t have room to freeze 30 lbs of meat!), you can put items on the Split Products Page to find others to split with. You can also feel free to leave a comment below on this post, to connect with other Clevelanders interested in splitting products.

How do I know if the KCKosherCoop has the best prices available?

Like anything I buy, I try to know what the cost would be at, say, Costco or my local grocery store. (A price book is a great way to track these price comparisons.) With most items, the Co-op beats my best price.

Depending on the city, the Co-op’s prices can be 30% less (or more!) than at retail stores. I have found the same thing with my price book, with a few exceptions (such as the shredded mozzarella at Costco). Do your homework before ordering to know that you’re getting the best deals!

Special FREE Passover Promotions

No more scrambling for a lamb shank bone for your seder plate, the KCKosherCoop will send you one for free! To get your free lamb shank bone, just add the $0.00 Lamb Shank that they just put on the Specials page. (You will have to be logged in to the site for this link to work.)

They are also offering a free Bedikas Chometz Set (add the $0.00 set to your order), which includes a feather, spoon, candle, crumb bag, and bracha sheet.

Feel free to contact the KCKosherCoop if you have any questions. You can email them at admin@kckoshercoop.com.

I live in Tucson. The list (above) shows Tucson as a delivery point. How do I find out more about deliveries made to Tucson?

    • Hi Martin – Set up an account on the Kosher Coop. When you fill in your address, there will be a pull-down menu for your city. Select Tucson. You’ll be all set! If you have additional questions, you can email the folks at the Kosher Co-op at the address in the post. I hope that helps.
