Jet.com is a new online shopping experience that promises to rival Amazon — both in terms of price and breadth of selection. (Is such a thing possible? I don’t know, but I’m happy to get in on the ground floor!)
It’s being launched next month, but until noon today (2/6), you can sign up to be a “Jet Insider”, which means you’ll get a FREE 6-month membership.
There are other perks to signing up early, based on the number of people who sign up with your link — so sign up (this is my link), grab a link of your own, and then share it quickly with your friends and family. Also, please feel free to leave your link in the comments below so other KOAB readers can sign up with your link!
Like Costco, Jet will be charging a membership fee – but then they promise that all prices will be “profit-free” — meaning they’ll making money from the membership fees, not from the items you buy! In other words: The prices should be very good!
Jet is the brain child of the founders of Diapers.com — which, if you know anything about the history between Amazon and Diapers.com, helps you to understand why Marc Lore is so eager to make good on his “better than Amazon” promise.
From a recent Bloomberg.com story about Jet and Lore:
He wants to reinvent the wholesale shopping club. Jet plans to open for business on a “friends-and-family” basis in January and will start limited sign-ups on Feb. 20. Customers will find just about everything, from clothes, books, and electronics to baby goods and athletic gear. After a 90-day free trial period, Jet customers will be asked to pay $49.99 a year for access to what Lore claims will be prices that are 10 percent to 15 percent lower than anywhere else online.
Jet will also offer a Membership guarantee like Costco — if you don’t save the value of your $49.99 membership, they’ll refund you the difference. Shipping and returns will also be free.
