Free Things to Do with Your Kids this Summer: Kids Bowl for FREE

Summer is coming… and if you are anything like me, you are looking for some fun *and* free (or at least very inexpensive) activities to keep everyone busy this summer.

One of my favorite all-time summer freebies is FREE bowling. We have done this for the past two summers and just signed up to do it again this summer.

Our favorite is the AMF FREE Summer Bowling Program, since we have an AMF alley just a few minutes from our house. With the AMF program, you pay NOTHING for your kids to bowl up to two games PER day.

Additionally, you can choose to pay just $27.95 for the AMF 17 Plus Pass, which will get you two free games per day for up to four people ages 17 and older. We usually sign up my folks, so they can take the kids as well.

If you don’t have an AMF nearby, check out Kids Bowl Free. They have over 100 participating alleys around the United States and Canada that allow kids to enjoy two free games per day all summer long. Each alley sets its own parameters – both for age limits and for the start and end-points for the summer “season”.

Neither the AMF nor the Kids Bowl Free program covers bowling shoe rental. As I’ve said before, we bought cheap pairs for the kids and found that it more than paid for itself over the summer.

Do you know of a great FREE summer activity for kids? Send me an email and I will feature it here on KOAB.

  1. I’m confused – if you get their regular emails, are you already signed up for kids bowl free?

I can’t find where to sign up on the page!
    Thanks!!!

    • Shelley – No, the AMF program (I assume that’s the one you mean?) requires a sign-up. Just click on the red arrow that says “Click to Sign up for Free Bowling” and then enter your zipcode to find a participating center near you. Then click on the one you want and enter your kiddos information! HTH.

  2. Got it!

My error was clicking on the location as opposed pressing the button next to it!

    (it’s 1.15am Sydney time, I have a valid excuse!!!)

    🙂

  3. Thank you! I’m keeping all of kids home for the summer so I’m trying to put together daily activities.

We are going to be signing up for all of the summer reading programs – they have it here at the library and at Barnes and Noble.

Home Depot has kids workshops on the first Saturday of every month. I called their corporate office and asked them if they would consider offering it also on Sundays and they said that it is up to the individual stores so that’s what I’m working on now.
