Groupon Guarantee: A Happy Ending

groupon refund

Have you bought a voucher from Groupon yet?

One of my favorite things about Groupon is their no-questions-asked money back guarantee. If something doesn’t work out as planned with a Groupon, just give them a call or shoot them an email and they will refund your money that day.

A few weeks ago I bought a Touched by Flowers Groupon. I planned to use it to have flowers delivered to the friends we were visiting in Houston for Thanksgiving. I wanted the flowers to get there before we did — to thank them for hosting our crazy family!

I placed the order to be delivered on Wednesday and used my Groupon voucher number, no problem. But then a funny thing happened: The flowers never showed up. I didn’t realize it at first, because we arrived late on Wednesday and were a bit tired from the 13 hour drive!

On Thursday morning, I looked around, though, and didn’t see my spray of lilies. I asked — and nope, no flowers had arrived. I called the Touched by Flowers 1-800 number, but there was no answer (never a good sign). I left a message to call back to my cell phone and never heard back.

By this point, I just wanted to go buy some flowers for them. Which I did, but now I had paid for the same thing twice! So, I looked up Groupon’s refund policy and read:

Nothing is more important to us than treating our customers well.

If you ever feel like Groupon let you down, give us a call and we’ll return your purchase — simple as that.

It was already about 3 o’clock on Thanksgiving day, and I figured no one would be answering the phones at Groupon. So I sent off a quick email and hoped that the Groupon Guarantee was as good as its word.

Not 10 minutes later I had the following email in response:

Hi Mara,

No problem. I just issued you a full refund and removed this Groupon from your account. Please allow up to 10 business days for this to be reflected on your statement.

Regards,

James B.

Way to go, James B! Way to go, Groupon! I gotta say, I loved this company before, but now I super-duper-love them!

Morale of the story: If you haven’t signed up for Groupon yet, you should. You really have nothing to lose!
