Happy 4th of July, my friends!
Not only is it America’s birthday, but in my family, we also get to celebrate the birthday of my very independent eight year-old!
I’ll be taking most of the day to spend with family. Right now, though, I’m off to Michael’s (with my 20% off coupon, of course), to purchase some Wilton’s dyes so I can make his baseball-themed birthday cake.

Mara, I really enjoy your blog and today I could not resist commenting for the first time… I too have a son who turned 8 today! We live in Chicago, btw. … to think that we gave birth on the same exact day 🙂 4th of Tammuz, right? 🙂
