S’mores Cheesecake Brownies

My favorite holiday to cook for is, without a doubt, Shavuot. All my years as a vegetarian have definitely given me a strong preference for dairy recipes!

I’m getting excited about putting together our menu, especially since we’ll be celebrating DD’s 3rd birthday as well! While cake and ice cream is on the menu for the first day, I’m also planning to make my cheesecake squares.

My husband, for some inexplicable reason, doesn’t like cheesecake. So I almost never make it – and even for Shavuot, I like to doctor it up and call it “brownies”.

Last year, I shared my take on chocolate cream cheese brownies, so this year I wanted to share this recipe for S’mores Cream Cheese Squares. What can’t be made better with chocolate chips, marshmallows and graham crackers?!

By the way, the square itself is also yummy, so if you don’t like s’mores (buh?!), you can skip the topping.

What’s your favorite Shavuot recipe? Dessert? Main course? Side dish? Soup? I can’t wait to read them all! Please (PLEASE!) share below in the comments!

  1. I actually just did a dairy recipe round-up on my blog with 38 dairy dishes for Shavuos. It’s hard to choose just one favorite, but I really love the white lasagna (made with a bechamel sauce instead of tomato) and the creamy roasted butternut penne.

  2. Wow–those S’mores squares look great, and so do all of Tali’s recipes. We usually make a little milchig Kiddush with cheesecake, take a break, and then have a fleishig meal. We’re thinking of adding our fish course to the milchig Kiddush this year with this recipe:
    Smoked Salmon Spread
8 ounces cream cheese at room temperature
    1/4 cup cream or milk
    1 scallion, thinly sliced
    1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice
    dash of hot sauce
4 ounces smoked salmon, gently shredded
Gently mix the cream cheese and cream (or milk) in a mixing bowl. Stir in the scallion, lemon juice, and hot sauce. Gently fold in the smoked salmon unti well combined, but do not overmix. The shreds of salmon should remain whole. Makes about 2 cups.

This spread is easy to make and delicious! It’s good on crackers or challah, and it’s also good with celery or red peppers. Enjoy. Good Yontif everyone!

  3. Onion soup with croutons and melted cheese!

  4. Where did you find kosher marshmallows?

    • Hi–Elyon and Paskez (might be spelling that incorrectly) both make kosher marshmallows. My Whole Foods sells them, but you can also buy them online. I’ve also adapted some recipes by using marshmallow fluff–I think Kraft makes it–in a jar.
