My Little Version of Extreme Couponing

You guys know that I’m big into keeping things simple. I do not run around to a dozen different stores every week. Some weeks, I don’t even shop at all!

But some weeks, the sales are good — so very, very good — that I make an exception. Or four of them.

Over this long weekend, I did a lot of shopping. I went to CVS, Target, HyVee (local grocery store) and Staples. And if I find a few spare minutes tomorrow, I’ll stop at another grocery store and maybe even go back to Target for some more frozen food deals.

Told you it was a lot of shopping.

But I’m okay with it, because I haven’t shopped like this in at least 6 months. Oh, and also because I spent just $37 for over $121 worth of food, toiletries, household cleaners and office supplies. So, yeah, I’d say 70% savings makes it all worth it.

Here’s a little frugal shopping eye candy for you.

Sunday @ CVS

(1) Purex laundry detergent – $.99 after coupons & ECBs
(1) 3-in-1 Purex – $.99 after coupons & ECBs
(1) EOS lip balm – FREE after ECBs
I paid with a $4 ECB and earned $2.99 in ECBs for my next trip.

Spent $.97. Saved $18.10.

Monday @ Target & HyVee

(1) Resolve Stain Fighter – $2.49 – $.75/1 coupon = $1.74 (not a stellar deal, but we really needed it)

Food:

Then, I used a 5% off voucher on all my purchases today, which I earned thanks to using our Target Red card to get 5 prescriptions. And I used my Target debit card to pay, which saved me another 5%.

Spent $31.22. Saved $69.31.

HyVee

I passed a HyVee on my way home, so I quickly popped in to pick up the loss leaders – 2 dozen eggs for $.88 each and 2 bottles of Ken’s dressing for $.88 each. I had (2) $1/1 coupons from the HenHouse Holiday Celebration (a local KC thing) on the dressing, which gave me $.24 in overage. Then I used the $0.55/2 dozen eggs coupon.

Spent $.97, Saved $9.31!!!

Monday @ Staples

(2) reams of Staples printer paper – FREE after rebate
(1) 8-inch scissors – $1
(2) packages #10 Envelopes – $1 each

  3. Still much saner than the show on TLC. Glad to see you did not end up with 40 years’ worth of Finish Quantum. 🙂

  4. It doesn’t matter you’re not “extreme”. you SOOO need to go on the show!! 🙂 hey, a little Jewish-style extreme couponing may help a lot of Orthodox Jew’s out!
