As you all know, I was in Detroit at the beginning of last week and then – as I’ve mentioned on Facebook – I came home on Tuesday evening to a sick two-year old. She was out of commission the rest of the week, which means I was pretty much out of commission … or at least deal shopping commission.
I did make a point to stop into Pet Smart though to pick up the cheap catfood, since I wasn’t sure how long the sale was going to last. Turns out it is on until October, so if you didn’t get to stop in last week, there is still time. (Get all the details here.)
As a reminder, Authority 4-lb bags are on sale for $5.99, regularly $7.99. There is a $5 off coupon on their website plus a 15% off your purchase coupon, making my total $.91 for the dry food. Then, there are hang tags with a coupon for two free cans of wet Authority food when you buy a 4-lb bag. Yes, I got those too!
After coupons, these 12 lbs of dry food and 6 cans of wet food cost $2.73 (including tax!). All bags have a July 2012 expiration date – I checked before stocking up.
Even better, on my first receipt, a coupon printed out for $3 off my next order of $3 or more when I complete an over-the-phone survey. I put that in my coupon basket, so counting the $3, this trip was basically an $.87 money-maker.
I then went back the next day (PetSmart is right next to my boys’ school, so I stopped in before and after pick-up) and did the deal again – 12 more pounds with 6 more cans for another $2.73.
For $5.46, I’m stocked up on cat food for the next 6 months or longer! Hooray for couponing and stockpiling.
Thanks to Caroline for pointing out that this whole deal is a bit confusing – why didn’t I use my $3 off coupon on the second trip?, she wondered! If you do this deal, note that you will need to run them through as separate transactions because the $5 off coupon is one per order. Each order was $.91 (after tax) – $5.99 – $5 – 15% = $.91. Canned food free with coupon.
How’d you do this week? Any major coupon scores? Or were you too focused on Rosh Hashana shopping?
