Capitol One 360 Checking Account $100 Bonus

EXPIRED!

Capital One 360 is celebrating Independence Day in a BIG way!

Right now, when you open a Capital One 360 checking account by July 3rd, you will earn a $100 bonus.

Yes, that’s right – $100 in FREE money!

Here’s how it works:

  • Open a fee-free 360 Checking account between now and July 3rd
  • This has to be your first 360 Checking account (if you have an Electric Orange account back from when Capital One 360 was ING that counts, unfortunately)
  • Make a total of 5 purchases (either signature or PIN-based) using your 360 Checking Debit Card, make 5 CheckMate deposits, or any combination of the two, within 45 days
  • Your $100 bonus will be automatically deposited into your account on day 50.

If you’ve been reading KOAB for a while, you already know that I personally use, love and happily vouch for Capital One 360.

As I’ve said before, the Capital One 360 Checking Account is the perfect virtual cash envelope.

We used it for a long time for our food budget, to make sure that we didn’t overspend. Once a month, we deposited our food money into the Capital One 360 checking account and then both my husband and I used our debit cards at the grocery store. You can learn more about our virtual cash envelopes HERE.

Other benefits of the Capital One 360 Checking Account:

  • It’s totally free to maintain
  • You don’t need to have a minimum balance
  • There is FREE overdraft protection

Plus, when you sign up before July 3rd, you get $100 in FREE money. That is a no brainer, as far as I’m concerned!

Open your Free Capital One 360 checking & earn $100 in FREE money!

(P.S. Your bonuses will be coming at the end of the summer – perfect timing to pad your budget for the High Holidays!)

Comments

  1. do they check your credit?

    • Mara Strom says

That’s a good question. I’m not 100% certain. I don’t think they pull a credit report with debit cards, but you might want to reach out to their customer service to confirm that.

    • In the opening process, it says:
“As part of the account opening process, we’ll obtain information about you from a consumer reporting agency. Based on that information, you may or may not be approved for 360 Checking.”

I would assume that this means a credit report.

  2. If I don’t select “Joint” account and make one for my wife and myself separately, do we both qualify for $100?

    Thanks!

    • Mara Strom says

Nissim – I’m not 100% certain of this, but here’s my best guess: If you set up the accounts and then link them to the same external account (to fund your checking account), then I don’t think you will.

concern with trying this is that you will miss out on both bonuses.

  3. And does the card have no foreign transaction fee?

    • Mara Strom says

No. There are foreign transaction fees, as far as I know. In my experience, the only cards that offer no transaction fees also have an annual fee. (And they are credit cards vs. debit cards.)

  4. I have a Capitol One credit card, with no annual fees and it’s NO foreign trans.

    • Mara Strom says

That’s great. You might want to contact their CS then to see if the debit card has no ft, but I’m thinking it doesn’t. Sorry 🙁

  5. Thanks for being there to help us 🙂

  6. Thanks for all your tips.
The link is not working though

    • Mara Strom says

Kertz – I’m sorry you’re having trouble; I just confirmed that all links in this post are active and “working”. Can you tell me what’s happening for you so we can trouble shoot?

  7. As part of the “legal stuff” on the application page, they WILL pull a credit report because this account comes with automatic overdraft protection. Wonder if there’s a way to opt out of the (unwanted) overdraft protection?

    • Mara Strom says

I have opted out of it, only b/c we don’t need it. But that was after I was approved, I believe, Loni.
