Pictures of Our Sukkah

I didn’t get a chance to post pictures of our completed sukkah before the chag, so I thought I’d share tonight! Please make sure to link up to pictures of your own sukkah in the Virtual Sukkah Hop.

We build our sukkah right off our kitchen/family room, so it opens up toward the inside of our house. Aside from blocking it from some gusty winds, this also allows us to skip the wall/door for the 4th side, which gives our not-very-big sukkah an airy feeling, I think.

Here’s how the sukkah looks from the entrance, with the right panel featuring the kids art mural and the left side our big Israeli flag:

And here is the right side wall, with all of the ushpizin posters.

And the left wall – aka the “art gallery”… I love adding new laminated pictures every year!

And finally, here is a shot of our schach – we brought the roll on the right back with us from Israel and bought a second roll from The Sukkah Project to fill in the gap on the left. Having the rolls is definitely faster than cutting down branches, though I do miss the palm we had in Israel! (Yes, those are “seasonal” lights purchased on 90% clearance at Target! ;-))

Thanks for visiting our sukkah! Now I can’t wait to see yours. Please be sure to link up to the Virtual Sukkah Hop.

  1. Beautiful Sukkah! Moadim L’Simcha.
That is really awful that your site was hacked. I’m sorry to hear that someone would do that to you, over yontif when you can’t do anything about it! I’m glad that you got it restored.

    • Fortunately my host was totally on the ball – I didn’t even have to do anything; they had it all taken care of for me! (Yay Blue Host.)

  2. Good to know – I also use Blue Host.

  3. It’s a beautiful Sukkah! Did you make the side panels yourself or did you purchase them? I love the addition of windows! I’m very much looking forward to your talk at Epstein Hebrew Academy!

    • Thank you Rachael! They are pre-fab walls, purchased in Israel – and yes, we LOVE the windows. Between that and the front wall being open, we definitely feel like our sukkah is more spacious than it really is!

I’m looking forward to meeting you in St. Louis soon. Thanks so much for having me! 🙂
