‘Tis the Season for TVs

You know how I’m always telling you that groceries have a sale cycle?

Well, it’s not just ice cream and cereal that has a predictable sale pattern.

Everything form lawn mowers to GPS systems to bed linens has a best time to buy. And guess what goes on sale the two weeks before the Superbowl?

BIG SCREEN TVs!

(Guys, this is finally a post for you!)

This awesome deal from KMart came across my inbox today. The Panasonic Viera 32” 720p 60Hz LCD HDTV is just $269.99. (It will say $299.99, but when you put it in your cart and proceed to check-out, the price will drop down to $269.99 with the 10% Friends and Family discount.)

Sale ends today. These are almost sold out, so you will need to choose in-store pick up — which will anyway save on shipping.

According to Google Products (do you know about this for comparing online prices?), the next lowest price is $342.77.

My husband won the 42 ” Viera (which incidentally is on sale, too, for $432) two years ago in an online contest and he is very happy with it. Wow, the prices sure have come down! The invoice on ours when we got it was over $800.

If ginormous TVs aren’t your thing, you can check out this handy chart from Consumer Reports of what goes on sale when to find out when your big ticket wish list item will be most affordable.

  1. If you have a sears/kmart rewards card you can gets points back on this. So basically like $2.50, but that is still something 😉

  2. Tis also the season for great deals on photo gifts on sites like Snapfish and York. Mara has already mentioned a lot of them, and there are even more on the sites. S0 far, I have two free photo books, a very cheap desk calendar (Thanks, Mara, for all these) and a great photo mug of all my grandkids that was 1/2 price. Of course, I always need another mug…. I could buy even more, but my budget is getting tight will all those shipping costs.
