Where to Donate Canned Goods for Purim?

I wanted to remind everyone about the Matanot l’Evyonim Campaign that I kicked off last week. You have until Wednesday (Ta’anit Esther) to donate canned goods, toiletry items, etc. to any food pantry or charitable organization in your area.

Then leave  a message on the Matanot l’Evyonim Campaign post with the number of items you donated. For every item, my husband and I will donate $.25 to Meir Panim, to help feed the hungry in Israel.

Not sure where to donate your canned goods and other items? I asked on Facebook for readers to share information about the food pantries (both kosher and not) in their area. Here is a list supplied by my readers (thank you!) in alphabetical order by state.

Obviously this isn’t a comprehensive list, but it is a great starting point of some wonderful organizations that need our help. Please feel free to leave additional sites in the comments section and I will update this post.

Comments

  1. The Squirrel Hill Food Pantry that is listed above is actually in Pittsburgh, PA not NJ.

  2. In the Boston area, there’s the Jewish Children & Family Service’s Family Table: http://www.jfcsboston.org/OurPrograms/BasicNeeds/FamilyTable/tabid/213/Default.aspx

Our day school and many shuls / schools in the area commit to monthly contributions to this great org.

  3. Check of the Jdeal for making a donation to Meir Panim:
