Whole Foods Deals for 2/23/11 – 3/1/11

I am testing out a new feature here on Kosher on a Budget: Whole Foods deal matchups.

Why Whole Foods, you may be wondering? Isn’t that store totally not “on a budget”?? Nope! Definitely a misconception!

When you apply the same strategic shopping principles to Whole Foods that you do to CVS, Target and your local grocery store, Whole Foods can be a wonderful source of kosher, organic DEALS. Plus they offer an awesome in-store shopping experience.

What do you think? Is this something you would like to see more of? Let me know in the comments section.

Keep in mind that Whole Foods sales run on a two-week cycle and their pricing and sales are regional. I’m trying to figure out an efficient way to share the various regional prices and sales, but for now, all information is based on the Mountain Region, in which Kansas is included.

Most Whole Foods allow you stack store and manufacturer coupons, but be sure to clarify your store’s policy so you don’t end up frustrated at the check-out. And finally, don’t forget that Whole Foods gives a $.10 discount for each cloth bag you bring in, and you get a 10% case discount when you buy 12 of any single item.

This is not a comprehensive listing of every match-up at Whole Foods, only the ones I think are stock-up prices on kosher food items. Be sure to check your local ad for the best deals for your family.

Comments

  1. Don’t forget $1/1 Imagine Broth, Stock, Soup or Gravy 1/30/2011 SS Insert (exp 4/30/2011)

  2. How can you tell what WF region you are in?

Since we have Trader Joe’s I don’t go to Whole Foods very often. I think if I knew about great deals I would go more often; which I need to do since I do use some of their bulk foods. They do frequently have great sales on organic produce.

    • Rivka – You are in the Midwest region – which means that your deals do vary slightly from what I’ve posted here.

  3. WF is actually the closest store to our house, and the only place that sells bread which meets my husband’s standards. I would love to see WF deals! Yes, please!

  4. Yes, please more information on Whole Foods and how to get deals! I would love to know more about cutting costs on organic foods/vegetables etc. too.

    THANKS.

  5. I bought 4 boxes of kosher Imagine soup last night at WF & some nice person had taped coupons to them! The checker told me that the scanner said only 1 coupon per order, but he overrode it for me. Larabars also had coupons taped to them. I usually only buy a few things there that I can’t get elsewhere, but I’m interested in the deals, also.

  6. Yes please!

  7. Love Love Love Whole Foods. Thank you for doing match ups. I love the shopping experience @ WF so much that sometimes my husband and I just go there for a ‘date’ and wander around.

  8. I went to Whole Foods with two WF coupons for Larabar Bars. The cashier would let me use only one coupon. He would not override. I went to the customer service desk and was told it is WF policy that you can use only one coupon. I was not too happy.

    • ellen – I’m confused. You had two Larabars and two WF coupons? And they would only let you use one coupon? If that’s the scenario… that’s nuts! Worst comes to worst, if they are totally adamant, you could just do a second transaction. Pay, then do it again, with the 2nd Larabar and 2nd coupon.

WF is having to pay a bit of catch up when it comes to WF. For instance, not all stores stack manu and store coupons, even though more and more do.

We should all politely email WF headquarters and tell them how much we love their store — and how important it is to us that they set a corporate policy that will support the “robust” use of coupons in their stores around the country. 🙂

  9. I am VERY interested in whole foods!!! What are the SS coupons you allude to? I’m new to all this verbage!! Thanks, LOVE this blog!!!

    • Sorry, Dana – I thought I had answered this. SS are the Smart Source insert. I’m working on a terminology/abbreviation cheat sheet, which should be ready this week! That should help, too.

  10. I would love to hear about Whole Foods savings – but I am in NC.

  11. Have you stacked coupons at both the stores near you?

    • I have not used coupons at the one on 119th, but yes, I’ve stacked with no problem at 91st. That said, Dave and Dara has a problem there with stacking, so YMMV.

  12. I dont “need” organic, but I do like WF. Thanks for the post.

  13. Another vote for WF. There are so many things I can only find there. (OU sundried tomatoes without sulfites? Check. Parve organic almond milk? Check. Artisenal (kosher) cheese? Check!! Uh, no, I am not a paid sponsor.) Yes, they come at a price, but I try to focus on those things that I can’t buy at local supermarkets, and leave anything on my usual shopping list that is pricier at WF for the regular super. Plus I only do a WF trip every now and then, since it’s half an hour away. Also, I bookmark my store’s individual page, which has a coupon section that is easy to check and print from. When planning a trip I always check there the night before.

  14. I went to Whole Foods today because of your post! Thank you. I really wanted the Imagine Soups but in my store (Denver, CO), they were not on sale for $2. Instead, the Pacific Kosher Chicken Broth with a chof-k was on sale for 4 for $5. That is a steal! I couldn’t find any coupons to use with that deal. Oh well.

  15. Katherine says

Is it possible to get these coupons now that they have changed on the website???

    • Katherine – Unfortunately it’s not… unless you happened to pick up copies of the Whole Foods Deal when it was in the store last month. Those usually have coupons that expire after the next edition comes out so I try to grab a stack whenever I’m there. HTH.
