Soap.com: 7th Generation Detergent for Just $3.26 (& a word about brand loyalty)

{Update} A big thank you to reader Becky for figuring out the mystery of the coupon code: Apparently it will only work if you have ordered from Diapers.com in the past, but haven’t ordered from Soap.com. At least that’s what a reader at The Thrifty Mama reports, based on her call to Customer Service. So sorry for the confusion and dashed hopes.

You can get $10 off any order of $10 or more at Soap.com right now by using the code 10BUCKSFREE at checkout.

In addition, Soap.com offers free 1-2 day shipping on all orders over $25, or $4.99 everyday shipping for orders less than $25.

Which means there are two ways you can take advantage of a coupon like this — either your get something that costs right at $10 and then pay for shipping, essentially getting it half off. Or you go ahead and buy something in the $25+ range, get the $10 off, and enjoy free shipping. (Free shipping is calculated on the before-discount total!)

Our stockpile of laundry detergent is running low. I can hold out for another couple of weeks and pick up some Purex or Arm & Hammer detergent for $1.50 or $2 a bottle. That’s usually what I’d do and there’s nothing wrong with these brands… I just don’t love them.

So why do I buy them? Because they frequently go on sale and I almost always have a coupon for them. Plus, you know what they say: Brand loyalty is the curse of any good couponer.

But lately, I’ve really been trying to work toward using less harsh chemicals in our home — right down to the laundry detergent.

So when I learned about the $10 off coupon, I decided to see what I could come up.

Here’s what I ordered — and again, this isn’t the deal-of-the-century, but for “green” laundry detergent, it’s a pretty great price. Plus I get free shipping, so I don’t even have to leave my house (BIG PLUS), and there’s no tax unless you live in CO, MO, NC ,NJ, NV, NY, or PA.

Seventh Generation Detergent – 32 oz., 6 pack = $29.58

(I got the Blue Eucalyptus & Lavender scent, but there’s also Free & Clear, if you prefer)

– $10 off

= $19.58 for 6 bottles or just $3.26 per bottle!

I upped my savings quotient by clicking through Ebates, so at the end of the quarter I’ll get 5% cashback on my detergent purchase today! Don’t worry, I won’t spend all $.85 in one place!

Even if you’re not in need of Seventh Generation detergent, I’d love to see what you can do with the $10 off coupon code! Let me know what you come up with!

  1. I read that the code was only good for new users? It doesn’t work for me anyway. Also, do I live in MO? It doesn’t say no tax for KS but it comes up as no tax anyway!

    • Dang, you read fast, girl!

No, you don’t live in MO, silly! It’s no tax unless you live in one of the states above. I’ve ordered from soap.com before and the code worked for me. I think there was some confusion in blogland, b/c some bloggers were saying it was only new users, but then people were commenting that they tried the code with a new account and it told them only for existing customers or something like that.

I don’t know why it’s not working for ya? It just worked beautifully on my 7th gen order. They mysteries of Internet deals — Sorry! 🙁

      • soap.com / diapers.com just hates me.

haha, I read the thing about the tax wrong, obviously.

        • Boo 🙁 (about soap/diapers.com) Tell D to sign up for an account and see what happens to him. I could be a NJ transplant issue 😉

          • Aaaaah! I just got an email from soap.com. Lavender is out of stock. My order has been canceled. Darn – at that price, I wish they’d back-ordered me. Oh well, ya win some, ya lose some!

  2. Can this be combined with the groupon?

    • From what I’ve read on other blogs, no. But clearly soap.com is somewhat inconsistent with what works when and why, so I’d try it and see. You’ll know before you have to complete the order.

  3. It says its for new customers only for me 🙁

  4. but QXIAMEN will give you 10% off, even if you’re not a new customer… hard to come buy ‘not a new customer’ codes for soap or diapers.com.

The thing I love about these 7th generation detergents is that the bottles are little and it’s concentrated. We live in a condo building, so it’s MUCH easier to take a little bottle to the laundry room than those honkin’ big laundry bottles.

  5. I use the free and clear for cloth diapers- no additive buildup that will damage the diaper. This is a great price for something I buy anyway! Thank you!

  6. I found a great deal in our Costco recently on Ecos Laundry Detergent which has no chemicals in it and is environmentally friendly. It’s a 200 oz. bottle for $13.99. Not sure you could beat that although this 7th Generation deal is very good!

    • I haven’t tried Ecos, but I’ve heard good things. And that is a great price. I will have to try that the next time my stockpile is running low again!
