Do you know about Swagbucks?

Are you signed up for Swagbucks yet? Because if you’re not yet, you really should be!

Swagbucks is a search engine, like Google, but unlike Google, swagbucks rewards you with points for your searches. Just for doing a totally normal search, you can win 5, 7, 10, 30 or even 50 swagbucks. As best I can tell, it’s totally random whether or not you will win any bucks. Most of the time you don’t, but every now and then, a little “You’ve won 11 swagbucks” message will pop up and make your day.

These swagbucks collect in your account until you have enough to cash them in for prizes. There are bunches and bunches of different kinds of prizes, but I always use my bucks to buy Amazon gift cards. A $5 gift card costs 450 points, and since signing up for Swagbucks a little over a year ago, I’ve earned enough bucks to buy $65 in Amazon gift cards. For doing nothing more than the regular searches I’d be doing anyway.

Sometimes, I use my gift cards to buy groceries (like the time I scored a sweet deal on Vermont Maple Syrup) and sometimes I use it to reduce the cost of a family gift (like when I got my husband a GPS for his birthday!).

If you want to sign up for a free swagbucks account, today is a good day to do it, since Friday is megabucks day at Swagbucks. What that means is that their big bucks prizes are bigger — and they seem to give them out a little more frequently — so your chances of winning, and winning big, are much improved!

  1. Hi,
I was excited to find your blog cuz I’m also all about saving and I could totally get into couponing BUT I live in Israel, so most of it all is irrelevant. I even signed up to Swagbucks (thru you) but now I can’t seem to register for a name. Is it only US based? (ugh)

    • Michal – I’m sorry I didn’t respond sooner. Have you had any luck? I actually signed up for SB while we were still living in Israel, so I’m not sure if they’ve changed the terms since then. Let me check around and see what I can find out.
