The Jewish Online School (Judaic Studies for Homeschoolers & Others)

One of my greatest challenges when we were homeschooling was finding the right Judaic curriculum for my children.

What makes limudei kodesh particularly challenging is that on top of an already packed schedule, I don’t really have the skills or background to teach it well once my kids are past about 2nd grade. So that means we have to rely on tutors to help our kids to learn the material they need to know.

That’s why I’m so excited about the amazing growth of The Jewish Online School — the perfect resource for homeschoolers, after-schoolers and anyone who needs a bit more reinforcement of limudei kodesh with their school-age children.

The Jewish Online School was established in 2010 as the first interactive online school for Jewish children  in grades K-12 who don’t have access to Jewish schools.

What started out as a small Hebrew school has in just seven years grown into four separate schools accommodating the growing needs of Jewish children from around the globe.

Jewish Day School
Full-time and part-time classes ranging from basic Judaism all the way to Chumash, Parsha, Mishnayot, Gemara and Tanach

Hebrew School
A once-a-week Hebrew School brought straight to the child’s home computer, providing the basic building blocks of Judaism and Hebrew reading.

Conversational Hebrew
Specialized classes designed to enhance students’ conversational Hebrew

Bar Mitzva Online
Bar Mitzva classes delivered live in a fun and interesting one-on-one setting, providing the child with the skill and confidence to shine at his coming of age.

Children hail from as close as the Tristate area to as far away as Singapore, Nigeria, Tasmania and South Korea. The Jewish Online School offers classes in nearly every timezone around the world.

In addition to maintaining a high standard of academic achievements, the virtual classroom uses cutting edge technology which enables students to interact with each other and develop a close network of friends from around the world.

Jewish Online School

One of those resources is the Jewish Online School, which offers online classrooms where students get together a few times a week with phenomenal teachers to learn and create Jewish friends from all over the world.

There are four different schools under one “roof” at the Jewish Online School.

Jewish Online School

#1. The Day School

Students have the option to attend school twice a week or four times a week. Classes run throughout the day and evening for the convenience of all families everywhere. The students learn Kriah, Chumash, Navi, Parshah, Dvar Torah, Ivrit, Yediot Kloliot and Yomim Tovim.

#2. The Hebrew School

Students attend school once a week to learn about their Jewish heritage. Teachers teach about Shabbat, Israel, Brachot, Kashrut, Jewish History, and upcoming holidays. The subjects are taught in a very fun and interactive way with arts and crafts and other activities.

#3. Conversational Hebrew Classes

Native Israelis teach this class. They teach students how to speak Hebrew and about modern Israeli culture and heritage.

#4. Bar Mitzvah Lessons Online

This is a fun and exciting way to prepare for your child’s big day, ideal for students who live in remote communities, without access to in-person tutors and rabbis. Student learn once a week one-on-one with their own teacher. No previous Hebrew school required. Families pick a time that works for them — all time zones can be accommodated.

The Jewish Online School offers a free trial of any of their classes, if you want to get a better feel for what they have to offer — and whether it’s right for your family. Fees for the Online School vary depending on the class you enroll in, but military families receive a 22% discount on all their classes.

  1. Thank you so much for posting this! We are moving from the US to South America this summer and since my children don’t speak Spanish, this sounds like a perfect option for our family! I am contacting them right now.

  2. I think you (or they?) mean Israelis, not Israelites. 🙂
