I told my kids when school ended that they were all going to do 20 minutes of “school” with me each day during the summer.
They were delighted. 😉
I persevered, however, because really want to help them keep up their skills throughout the summer — and maybe even improve in some areas.
We have a lot of curriculum left from our homeschooling days, which I am pulling from. But I also wanted to get a couple of workbooks for my two elementary-aged kids, so they could work independently while I’m working with their siblings.
I recently ordered two from the Summer Bridge Activities Series and am really impressed.
Some of the skills are “too easy” – aka a quick review – and some of them are more of a stretch, but overall, the level seems spot on for my rising 2nd and 5th graders. I also love that the workbooks are divided into days, and each day has an objective and theme. Each day has an easy 10-20 minute “chunk” of work and the subject matter of the days builds sequentially.
If you’re looking for something similar for your kids this summer, I highly recommend them!
And if you do buy these, just know that as of 10:30 am on June 29th, they are at their lowest ever price – around $6.50 each (a 50% discount). There is no guarantee that the price will last, but pretty cool to get them for such a good value right now.
These are Prime-eligible items, so two-day shipping is free with your Amazon Prime account. If you’re not a member, you will get free 5-7 day shipping via Super Saver Shipping when you spend $49 or more.
Thanks. What a perfect idea. Just ordered.
My pleasure! Hope you like them, too!
