Purim will be here before we know it, friends! And although I personally hate getting dressed up, I do LOVE this chag now that I have kiddos whom I can dress up!
I want to share that Purim love with all of you – my wonderful, amazing readers. So I’ve lined up a week of AWESOME giveaways and a very special Matanot Levyonim campaign that I am so excited about. Those features will be launched the first week in March, so stay tuned.
In the meantime, I’m already thinking about our mishloach manot – and how we can do them creatively and frugally. I’ve got ideas, of course, but I’d LOVE to hear from you all, too.
Have you made mishloach manot that you are especially proud of? Do you have a stellar idea for this year?
Send me an email with a paragraph or two describing your michloach manot — your theme (if there is one), what you include, how much it costs… all the fun details. Be sure to attach a PICTURE of your creation, if you have one.
Please also let me know how you’d like me to identify you – name, location, brief description… if you’ve got a blog, I’d be thrilled to link up to it, too.
I’ll be sharing all your ideas with the rest of my KOAB readers in a special Mishloach Manot Roundup starting in two weeks. That way, we will all have plenty of time to copy your brilliant ideas for ourselves ;-).
Everyone who submits a mishloach manot idea (& picture, if you have) to me BY EMAIL will be entered to win a $10 Amazon Gift Card. I haven’t decided yet if it’ll be a random drawing, or maybe I’ll have readers vote on their favorite submission. Either way, consider it my way of saying thank you for sharing your fabulously frugal (and fun) mishloach manot ideas!
Good idea, Mara. I’ll send you mine later today. Thanks!
We make hamentashchen, add one more goodie (chocolate? clementines?), and staple it into a triangle made from the kids’ drawings (they bring so many home from school, this uses up some of the ones we don’t want to save for posterity).
This idea comes directly from chabad. They are including a smaller version (from the photo i’d say a hamantasch and a few wrapped candies) with mishloach manot so that the recipient can fulfill the mitzvah by sending to another friend or relative.
These are some fun ideas that I have done over the years…was just looking to find a new idea for this year so hopefully someone will post something 🙂
1. I dressed as a Giesha girl and gave sushi/rice crackers and an asian tea
2. Oreos and milk – very simple- carton of milk/box of oreos and a glass to keep.
3. Strawberry tea – tea glass with strawberries/ a strawberry tea bad/a scone (english cake)/individua jame and some whipped cream
4. Cheese and biscuits- different cheese and crackers with a bottle of red wine
5. movie theme- packet of microwave popcorn/coke/chocolate/sweets in a pop corn container.
6. Flower pots- base is a chocolate cake and kids helped make flowers from jelly sweets on sticks.
7. Breakfast- choco/cereal box/rogalach/fruit…yum!
Just to add- Happy Purim everyone!
