Welcome to Kosher on a Budget

mara-strom-head-shot

Welcome! I’m Mara, the founder of Kosher on a Budget.

Whether you found this blog because you are struggling to get out of debt, looking for ways to increase your savings, or just hoping to spend a few less bucks on kosher food, you’ve come to the right place!

After living in Israel for a decade, my family moved to America’s heartland two years ago, where, among other things, I was introduced to the wonderful world of coupons and frugal living. It took me all of three seconds to get hooked on this amazing way to save money for my family and to live a more financially responsible life.

Here at Kosher on a Budget, I share what I’ve learned along the way, which means you can expect to see a lot of posts about shopping online sales, making a monthly menu plan and stocking up on household and grocery staples.

And, of course, I tell you about all the hot new (kosher) coupons and teach you ways to use them to stretch your savings even further. If you think coupons aren’t for you, you will definitely want to check out my Coupon Misconceptions DEBUNKED! series – I think I just might change your mind.

You can also check out our personal Jewish Dave Ramsey story, where I talk candidly about facing the reality that we were $30,000 in debt. I go on to share how we paid off that debt in just 6 months – and then built an emergency fund of 6 months worth of expenses. I share these incredibly personal details of our financial lives because I want you to know that you’re not alone – and because I believe that if we can do it, anyone can do it!

I’m glad you found me and I’m eager to get to know you. Please stick around – and don’t forget to subscribe to Kosher on a Budget via email, and to follow KOAB on Facebook and Twitter.
