Our Sukkot Menu Plan 2023

I realize that I haven’t shared our Sukkot menu plan for a few years, so I wanted to quickly share what I’ll be making for my favorite chag of the year.

Remember: I’m in Israel, so only one day of yomtov!

Friday night / Erev Sukkot / Shabbat

• Sweet challah
  I use the Between Carpools sweet & fluffy challah dough recipe and the sweet crumb topping from Busy in Brooklyn (it’s delicious and freezes/ reheats very well after baking)

• Mushroom Barley Soup
  This soup is an Erev Sukkot tradition for us – we have it every year! If you’re like me and have a thing about the texture of mushrooms, read my tips in this recipe.
• Sarah Lasry’s Sweet Shredded Brisket (with dried fruit)

• Sima Bitton’s Jeweled Rice
  I made this for Rosh Hashana and it was INSANELY good and flavorful! Highly recommend. Let me know if you need help translating the recipe.
• Mini carrot kugel muffins
  I’m probably going to use this recipe
• Green salad
• Roasted Green beans with sautéed onions
  I made a huge batch of onions while cooking for RH, and I froze them in muffins tins — then popped them out and frozen them in a ziploc. I take out two or three “muffins” of onions and just warm them up in the dish with the beans on the plata. They taste fresh!
• Apple crisp with easy pareve ice cream

Sukkot / Shabbat Lunch

• Creamy Dill Gazpacho (the recipe looks weird, I know, but it is SO good!)
• Build-Your-Own-Fajita “Bar”
  • Chicken strips (I’ll share my marinade recipe with you soon – I just have to write it up)
  • Steak strips
  • Tri-color peppers & onions
  • Homemade salsa
  • Black beans
  • Cilantro lime rice
  • Guacamole
  • Tortillas
• Duncan Hines Peanut Butter Rice Krispy Brownies (These are insane! LMK if you want me to share the recipe)
• Cut Fruit – Melon, Mango, Grapes
