Rosh Hashana Giveaway #1 | Two $50 Gift Cards to JWines

Rosh Hashana is right around the corner – and I don’t know about you, but for me, this time of year can be a leetle bit stressful!

Sometimes, I just need to get.away. Enjoy a few moments of silence – when no one is asking me to make them a snack or braid them a challah or invite them to a meal!

Ideally, those moments will feature either a cold glass of white wine – or a steaming hot cup of tea.

It’s my version of “Calgon, take me away”!

And since I love you all so much – and since I’m guessing I’m not the only one that needs a little break during these hectic days leading up to Rosh Hashana – I’m super excited to treat you to this fun giveaway!

Two lucky Kosher on a Budget readers will each win a $50 gift card to Jwines.com – my new favorite online store with just about every imaginable kosher wine on the market.

Whether you’re looking for rare and high end or inexpensive and blue (aka the Baron Moscato!), JWines.com has you covered. And from now until September 6th, you can save 10% off your Jwines orders when you use the coupon code kosherbudget at checkout.

Of course two lucky reader will get their own $50 gift card for super splurging on their favorite vinos. (And yes, gift cards can be used toward shipping, so no out of pocket costs for my winners!)

Now, sure, you can use these gift cards to buy some Rosh Hashana wine to serve at your table – or to bring as a gift for a host. But I won’t judge if you decide to squirrel a bottle or two away for yourself!

Here’s how to enter this JWines Giveaway:

(Remember, each comment is considered it’s own entry – so leave a separate comment for each one.)

Required entry: Leave a comment telling me how you de-stress from all the pre-yom tov maddness (eg. get a pedicure, have a glass of wine, etc.)

Optional entry #1: Subscribe to the Kosher on a Budget daily email newsletter – and then leave a separate comment letting me know you have done so. (If you’re already a subscriber, that’s great – you can just say so in your comment.)

Optional entry #2: Like Kosher on a Budget on Facebook for all the latest in coupons, deals, money-saving tips and Rosh Hashana giveaways – and then leave a separate comment letting me know you have done so. (If you’re already in like with KOAB, yay! I like you too! Just let me know in your comment.)

This contest will be open until the end of the day on Tuesday, September 4, 2012. Winners will be notified by email and have 48 hours to respond before another winner is chosen. Hatzlacha!

Disclosure: KOAB is an affiliate of Jwines.com, however I was not compensated in any way to host this giveaway. The remarks are entirely my own, including my preference for cold white wine. For more information, please see my disclosure statement.

I already subscribe and like koab!

  41. I am a big cheater – instead of having to de-stress I just try to avoid stress! I go ahead and accept any hint of an invitation for holiday meals (lucky having family nearby!) and when we’re home I keep things simple. I know the honor of yomtov deserves special treatment but in my home the philosophy is that the best special treatment is a calm home. I will definitely prepare special foods, but what that means is something like a special meat dish (we rarely spend on meat for non-holidays) not five courses with multiple side dishes – we’ll have approximately the same amount of food as always, just of a special quality, so that doesn’t have to mean harder or more work. Putting up a nice cut of meat to roast isn’t that much more complicated than putting up anything we’d normally eat for dinner.

I like to cook without my cochlear implants so I don’t have hear pots banging to each other or something spilled. (Don’t worry I have a special fire alarm that will flash to me if I have a fire in my kitchen). 210. I de-stress by making sure not to procrastinate (plan out what i want to see happen, i.e. my menu). Beyond having a game plan, though I try to focus on Ikar Ha’inyan (the main point) of the high holidays: introspection, tshuva, & overall trying to be a better person. For me, davening on a daily basis throughout the course of the year has been a struggle due to time constraints; during the month of Elul this year, however, I’ve made the time to daven & (as trite as it sounds) its been helping me become relaxed & centered (kind of like meditation). And at the end of the day, I tell myself that thanks to G-d, everything has this curious way of working out, so no need to stress out too much. I hope I can keep this in mind as I’m cooking : )

To de-stress, I do get a pedicure right before the school year begins and then right before the New Year. I also do my shopping alone, so I can think clearly. Normally I insist on help for my regular weekly shopping.

  267. I keep my stress in check by making lists: shopping lists, to do lists, etc. And I usually try to escape just before yom tov for a mani/pedi. After days in the kitchen, I deserve it!

  274. I joined your daily emails, which I’ve been meaning to do for a while. Thanks for all the great tips and deals!

  275. Compared to Pesach this season is a breeze! I probably don’t need to de-stress because our prep is simpler from the beginning: just plan menu, shop and cook, and I try to simplify it as much as possible. We don’t have our own sukkah, we don’t make a point to buy new clothes for everyone, and we attend a few meals in our synagogue.

  299. Destressing is not my strong point, but I do enjoy a good nap…

    Did #1 & 2 too.

  300. I don’t do anything to de-stress for Yom Tov other than try to make sure I’m caught up/ahead at work so I do not arrive back afterward to chaos. I find that there are so many other things much more stressful than what food we’ll have and where we’ll eat… Finding time to build the sukkah is a challenge since we cannot park on the street overnight w/o getting a permit, which we can get for 10-14 days max., and the sukkah takes up the driveway spot of the minivan.

  301. I de-stress by taking a little break from all the prep madness to spend some downtime with my husband! 🙂
