I feel like I’m cheating on Swagbucks, but…
There’s another rewards search engine that I wanted to tell y’all about since they have a great sign-up offer right now.
Bing is Microsoft’s proprietary search engine, and it only works on Internet Explorer. Like my beloved Swagbucks, Bing awards you points for your searches, and when you have accumulated enough points, you can trade them in for prizes like Amazon gift cards or airline miles.
If you sign up now for Bing and download the toolbar you will get 250 bonus points. This offer is good only through the end of December, 2010.
Since I’m a Mac gal, I asked my husband to check it out. Here’s what he had to say:
The 250 points is about a quarter of the way to a $10 Amazon gift card! For now, you get 1 point per 2 searches, and I think Bing is probably a slightly better search engine than Swagbucks.
Based on his experience, here’s what I suggest:
- Sign up for Bing and download the toolbar for when you’re searching on Internet Explorer
- Sign up for Swagbucks for when you’re using Firefox (or on your Mac!)
After all, there’s no such thing as too many free Amazon gift cards.
I know that at least a few of my readers use Bing, based on my stats reports. What has your experience been like? How do you think Bing compares to Swagbucks?
i frequently use bing on firefox… if that matters to anyone.
Are you on a Mac or a PC? I tried to sign up and it wouldn’t let me… it said that the requirements were Internet Explorer, so I assumed it was a PC/IE issue. DH has both and had no problem getting signed in. Hmmmm…. I’ll go try again. Do you get Bing rewards, Caroline?
The Bing search engine works fine on Firefox. But the toolbar is not compatible with Firefox. And (with minimum research,) I think you need the toolbar to accrue points. The toolbar works excellently on IE.
Just tried again and got the following message when I tried to install the Bing Rewards Bar:
The Bing Bar is not compatible with your system
