Are you decluttering your home, too? I’d love to be able to share your success story with the KOAB community! Please submit the before & after pictures of your decluttering project.
Sigh. The good thing about decluttering? I never seem to run out of spaces that need my attention!
(When you’ve got basketballs in your pantry, you know you need help!)
We have two small closets outside of our kitchen, in a back stairwell going up to our second floor (it’s a funky 1950s house with a lot of storage – just not all of them in the most normal places). I’m not actually sure what the closets were originally intended for, but given that this one has shelves, I think of it as a kitchen overflow pantry. Also known as: The Costco Pantry. Or, in my case, The Costco & Amazon Subscribe & Save Pantry!
Check out my after shot!
In this pantry, we keep paper goods, extra storage bags and wrap, bulk food (which we refill into smaller containers kept in our kitchen food cupboard), small appliances that don’t fit in the kitchen, vases, etc.
Today’s declutter is actually part of a larger, ongoing kitchen initiative I’ve been working on for the last few days. I’ve been reorganizing several cabinets and drawers in our kitchen, in an attempt to make them work more efficiently for us. (I will share pictures when I’m done!)
As a result, I was able to move the crockpots and deep fryer into the kitchen, making more space in the pantry. I even have one almost empty shelf now. (I love empty shelves! Built-in breathing room.)
P.S. How many times have I said decluttering saves you money? Another case in point. During today’s declutter, I came across four boxes of sandwich size bags — a Costco purchase from a few months ago when they had their coupon offer. Well, guess what I bought last week? A box of sandwich bags! You see, we had run out, and this pantry was such a mess that I couldn’t even see the four I had already bought. What a waste! Don’t be like me. Declutter now!
Anyone know where I got 10 jars of Newman’s Own from? 😉
And now one last photo — because everyone loves a good Before & After photo!
