Best Deals on Kosher Lamps (Lamps you can use on Shabbat)

I have a friend from Kansas City who asked me about finding a great deal on the KosherLamp Max.

And you know I love a challenge.

I searched the regular Jewish haunts – Eichlers, JudaicaMall, etc. I found the KosherLamps right under $40, but no one had free shipping. And when you factor that in, the cost jumped to the mid $50s.

Which seems really high to me.

So then I went to Amazon – and was once again surprised to find that they really do have everything. I found a number of KosherLamp options for right around $42. Which does include free shipping (two-day if you have Prime).

The cherry wood is $42.99 and the pink one is $42.96 with free shipping (from a 3rd party seller) — only 2 left in stock, by the way.

The most expensive color is $45, shipped – and that still beats Eichlers by $10 with their shipping.

Plus, these days, I’m inclined to stick to Amazon – as I have really come to appreciate and rely on their consistent shipping. (Having to wait two weeks for my Kohl’s order from Black Friday about killed me.)

But tell me, other than “pick it up at such-and-such store in Brooklyn” (which isn’t going to work for the out-of-towners), are there better deals out there on the KosherLamp that you know about?

(P.S. For those who have no idea what I’m talking about, here’s the product description, which describes this better than I can: A simple twist reveals or hides the light on this innovative reading lamp – and it can be used on Shabbos according to halacha! It’s a practical and innovative idea that’s perfect in any room, as a gift or for everyone in your family.)

  1. There was a groupon (or jdeal, or kosher koouponz) deal a couple of years ago where we were able to get it for about $37, shipped to our home.

  2. Periodically you can get them for $37 or $38 from Artscroll. I think they go on sale a few times a year.

  3. Didn’t the KC Kosher Coop have them at one time? (If you have 11 friends to share with…)

  4. There was a JDeal or kosher kouponz recently. I think it was in the $30s?

    • I just bought two with the kosher kouponz deal. They were $40 each including shipping. It did take a week to ship, but once they shipped, they arrived several days before they were scheduled to.

But it’s good to know that Amazon sells them as I never would have thought to look there. However, speaking of Amazon’s shipping, my daughter’s Kindle took a week to arrive even though I have prime and it was supposed to be 2 day shipping. Hmmmm…..
