A Different Black Friday Experience ~ Walmart, Sam’s Club, & Target Will Be Closed on Thanksgiving Day!

Disclosure Statement

Target Black Friday Given the reality of Covid in America, this announcement should come as no surprise. But it is surely another cultural “indicator” of just where we’re at these days.

Earlier this week, Walmart, Sam’s Club and Target have all announced that their stores will be CLOSED on Thanksgiving day (11/26) for the first time in… forever?

In an effort to take care of their employees who have worked so hard this year, Walmart is giving them the day off, as well as bonuses on August 20.

Walmart Black Friday

(I’m not sure yet when all the Walmart Black Friday deals will go LIVE online, but I expect it to be sometime on Thanksgiving day, as in years past. I will update you just as soon as I hear for sure.)

Target will have holiday deals starting in October and continuing throughout the whole season, most likely with no threshold for free shipping. Target will also have more items available through pickup & delivery services. (And again, I’ll be keeping an eye out for when the Target online Black Friday deals will start, so stay tuned!)

What do you think of this announcement? I know most KOABites prefer to shop online like I do, but if you normally do the in-store thing on Black Friday, which day do you hit the stores? Thanksgiving day or Friday?

Comments

  1. I would usually go to the mall on Black Friday. I love the people watching, the break from the kitchen, and the extra steps on my FitBit. I don’t buy much. I stay away from the stores who open on Thanksgiving Day. It’s a mix of online and in-person shopping for me – in-person for clothes and shoes. This Black Friday, I am pretty sure I won’t be at the mall!
