DogVacay.com ~ Earn Money by Dog Sitting in Your Own Home

Are you a dog lover? Dog owner? Then heads up, my friend: This post may be perfect for you!

For dog owners who are heading out of town, kenneling your dog can be stressful — for you and your pooch. Not to mention expensive.

DogVacay.com is a nationwide network of in-home doggy hosts. So now, instead of boarding him at a kennel at the vet’s office, your dog can move in to a real home, with an approved host in your city, starting from $15/day.

This seems like an awesome alternative for traveling dog owners — but I’m actually most excited about the “hosting” side of the equation.

Especially for those of you interested in earning extra money from home.

First, there’s the money: Top DogVacay.com hosts earn an average of $500 – $1000 per month just by watching dogs in their homes. (What would you do with an extra $6000 – $1200 a year??!!)

Frankie and I have actually decided to look into doing this — the combined earning potential with the cute-puppy-time was a win-win for us.

It took me all of five minutes to fill out my initial profile, and I definitely found their site to be very user friendly.

Once you create your profile, you can set your own rates, decide which dogs to take, and when to take them. Big dogs, small dogs, overnight stays or week-long ones – you decide what works for your family.

All DogVacay hosts are provided with complimentary insurance and both hosts and guests get 24/7 customer support.

DogVacay celebrated their one year anniversary in February — and in just over a year, they have grown to include 9,000 hosts around the country totaling more than 80,000 doggy nights.

Hosts include stay-at-home parents, retirees and anyone looking to supplement their income — while enjoying a dog’s company. You don’t have to be a dog owner to sign up — but over 70% of hosts already have a dog at home, so it’s definitely not a disqualifier, either.

Also, as a mom to three little ones, I also wanted to note that 30% of DogVacay hosts have children. I actually think this seems like a great way to teach your kids about the responsibility of pet ownership.

  1. Love this idea. I wonder if they have something like this for cats? That I would do in a heartbeat! We have fostered cats before, but not for $.
