*IMPORANT* Hand Sanitizer Recall ~ FDA Has Recalled 77 Products for Potential Toxicity

Disclosure Statement

Here’s an important heads up in these days of constant hand washing and sanitizing.

The FDA says that at least 77 hand sanitizer products may contain toxic ingredients. They have recalled dozens of hand sanitizers due to potentially deadly levels of mathanol (wood alcohol).

You can see a complete list of recalled sanitizers HERE.

Many of the products in question say they contain ethanol, but FDA tests show that they contain methanol, which can be toxic when absorbed through the skin, can cause blindness, and may be lethal if ingested.

(I feel that it should go without saying, but I’ll say it anyway, DO NOT INGEST hand sanitizers!)

The recalled items were sold at retailers such as Walmart, BJ’s Wholesale Club, Costco, and other major retailers.

Included on the recall list arer several types of Blumen brand hand sanitizer. Also be wary of any varieties that say “FDA-approved,” as there aren’t any, or that say they provide protection for “up to 24 hours.”

Per the CDC, when soap and water are not readily available, people should use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60 percent ethanol.
