Purim Costumes: What are you planning?

Purim Costume Collage

Just a little over a week before Purim, and like many of you, we are finalizing plans for our costumes, seudah, and mishloach manot.

While I don’t post many pictures of my kids, they are so cute in their Purim costumes, I couldn’t resist!

Over the past six Purims, we’ve had:

  • a snail
  • a king
  • a monkey
  • a knight
  • a dragon
  • a Ninja
  • a bumblebee
  • the Monopoly Man
  • Darth Vader, Yoda & Princess Leia

Some have been store-bought, others have been home-made. I’ve written about making your own Purim costumes, for those that are interested.

This year, my sports-obsessed sons are going as their favorite basketball players. We tried to suggest some alternatives, but decided that as long as they aren’t dressing as something grossly inappropriate, this is their choice to make. Pictures to come soon.

My daughter will go as a (store-bought) butterfly (purchased on clearance at Old Navy after Halloween for $8). Our mishloach manot will be super simple – and similarly fluttery. Pictures of that as well, coming soon.

Tell me: What costumes are in the works at your house?

I ended up deciding on thing 1 and thing 2 for my 2 boys! My husband will be cat in the hat… When he’s done I’ll wear the Hat and Bowtie

We are not too creative or fancy these days. My boys are a bit older – 17 and 12 – but I work at our Sunday School, so we all “buy in’ to the costume thing. We will likely go in sports tees or jerseys from the same team. (We are Philly fans.) I do not, however, have an idea for a related mishloach manot theme. I may just try on listed here. They all seem great 🙂

  3. What did u give out for shalach Manos as bumble bees?
