I am a big believer in the power of a good pair of black tights.
Pretty much every winter Shabbat outfit I own is based around the foundation of said pair of black tights.
I’ve gone through a few pairs of losers, so when I find a pair that works, I get three of them. (Runs and tears are inevitable and pretending like I’ll be so careful that it won’t happen is an exercise in futility.)
Given my borderline obsession with finding the perfect pair of tights, you can imagine how excited I was when In The Mood Intimates (a normal company that sells awesome shapewear – despite the sound of their name) offered to send me a pair of their new Commando Ultimate Opaque Matte tights.
The big selling point of these tights is their dig-free waistband — so you can “show off your waistline and not the line around your waist”.
I was game to try them out, which I did this Shabbat.
And I loved them.
They were just as “shaping” as my super teflon style control top tights (you know the ones I’m talking about, right?), but a lot more comfortable. And no uncomfortable pooch coming out the top of my tights (if you can’t relate, let’s just pretend that you can… so we can still be friends).
The material seems quite durable – although I’m not naive enough to think they are totally indestructible. In other words, a backup pair would be advisable.
And the black is an opaque matte, which is what I prefer – not too much sheen and not at all see-through.
In other words, a perfect pair of Shabbat tights!
