Tu B’Shevat Higiya… Chag haIlanot…
Chodesh Tov! One of my favorite holidays is just around the corner, so I thought I’d round up some Tu B’Shevat* fun and freebies.
Videos
Kach Holchim HaShotlim “This is how we go and plant trees on Tu B’Shevat” – a sweet children’s ‘music video’ from Hop, which is the Israeli children’s television channel. Even if you/your kids don’t speak Hebrew, I think you’ll get the gist of this one!
If you prefer English, Shalom Sesame has loads of Tu B’Shevat videos. I especially liked Debra Messing’s bit on Nature (tho why didn’t they get her to say it in Hebrew. I heard that in addition to graduating from Brandeis, she went to Camp Ramah as a kid!)

Tu B’Shevat, as my kindergartner will tell you, is the Birthday for the Trees. Celebrated on the 15th day of the Jewish month of Shevat, which usually falls in late January or February, Tu B’Shevat is often referred to as the Jewish Arbor Day. Some of the most popular traditions on Tu B’Shevat are eating dried fruits and planting trees.
