Since posting my January menu plan, a number of you have written to ask me about my breakfast smoothies.
Over the next month, I will be sharing some “recipes” to my favorite smoothies, for those of you that would like to start your day this way as well.
Last week, I shared my orange creamsicle smoothie, and today I’m sharing one of my absolute favorites: Strawberry Oatmeal Smoothie.
Oatmeal is a great “power” food – and when you blend it into a smoothie, you can’t even sense that it’s there. (So if the texture of cooked oatmeal bugs you – no? just me? – this is a great way to “eat” it.)
Strawberry Oatmeal Smoothie
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups frozen strawberries
- 1 large banana
- 1/4 cup whole oats
- 1 cup almond milk
Instructions
Place all ingredients in a high power blender and blend until smooth. I usually do an extra cycle to be sure that I got all the oatmeal fully blended.
Enjoy!
Do you like smoothies for breakfast? Or anytime of day? What are your favorite recipes?
We really liked the orange creamsicle smoothie last week (well, everyone except the kids who saw me putting the carrots in – they refused to try it. Gotta make the next one in secret I guess).
That’s so funny – you really can’t taste them, but I can see how it might turn some kids off!
Do you cook the oats before putting them in, or use them raw?
