  1. Our favorite part of the seder is definitely the props. My four year old asked me last night if we were again going to have jumping frogs; I can’t believe she actually remembers them from last year! I think I need to check that we’ve got everything “in stock” since every year we lose a few locusts or pingpong balls.

  2. Karen Rubin Brown says

My favorite part is family and friends.

  3. that first bite of fresh thin handmade matzah

  4. Karen Rubin Brown says

I already follow you on Pinterest 🙂

  5. I’m the first comment..that never happens! I like the Dayenus.

  6. Shepping nachas from my kids singing the ma nishtana in yiddish.

  7. Bethany Shondark Mandel says

I love the kids reading the questions!

  8. Miriam Lipnick says

My favorite part of the seder is the kids getting excited and participating!

  10. I followed you on Pintrist..but I have no idea how to use it.

  11. I like taking out the plague sets that we have for the kids (and adults).

  12. Miriam Lipnick says

I now follow KOAB on Pintrest! =)

  13. These days my favorite part of the seder is hearing my (almost) 7 year old ask the Four Questions (not sure if it’s more mommy-pride or relief that after almost 30 years I no longer have to do it!) 🙂

  14. I followed you on Pinterest 🙂

  15. my favorite part is shulchan aruch! im starving at that point 🙂

  16. Yehudis Bernhaut says

My favorite part is mah nishtana. As a kid, for the obvious, but now as a mother I get to watch my kids do something at the seder all on their own and watch with pride at how proud they are of themselves for contributing to the Seder and feeling so important!

  17. Shayndy Abrahamson says

Favorite part of the seder – when my kids sit mesmerized as my husband tells them all about the makkos (using Medrashim).

  18. Shayndy Abrahamson says

    Following on Pinterest!

  19. i think my favorite part of the seder is having fun with the kids. seeing their joy when we play games and sing. thats what the seder is supposed to be all about so it a win-win for me. i also love when everyone sings nirtzah together and dancing l’shana haba b’yerushalayim!

    • My favorite part of the Seder is having the whole crazy family (except for my brother, sister in law and niece 🙁 ) together. We usually haven’t all come together since Purim, so we start the Seder off with a loud round of arguments about who sits where (no not just for the kids), who has to open all of the wine bottles (me), and just how quickly we can finish Kiddush so we can have the first glass!

  20. My favorite part is the food that is specially reserved for this time of year. My family has some favorites, like fudgy, flourless brownies that they ask for all year long, but I tell them no, they’re reserved only for Pesach. They also know, to their chagrin, that they’ll only get matzah brie on Pesach and Chanukah (for the oil). It makes these times of year very special and we all look forward to them!

  21. yael weiss says

My favorite part is the blessing of Bibhilu as done in the morocccan tradition 🙂

  48. My (now adult) offspring searching for the afikomen. They have always tried to watch my husband the whole seder, which never works, and it still takes them forever to find it. My “baby” is 28. My husband is so good that the rest of us are almost asleep by the time they find it?
    !

  49. My favorite part used to be finding the afikoman, but now it is hiding it for my daughter to find

  51. Since I became a parent my favorite part has become the kids’ involvement. They are so excited to share their knowledge!

  52. My favorite part of the seder is when my uncle would take the bag with the afikomen and put it over his shoulder and say”…this is the bread of affliction….”(I attached a beautiful golden braid to it so the act of putting the bag over his shoulder holding on to the braid would appear “heavy”). This will be the first Pesach without him; he passed away two weeks ago and will be sorely missed. But whomever takes the afikomen bag at the begining of our seder; just the act of doing it will still be my favorite part.
    Happy Passover everyone!!!

  64. Seeing all the seder table art projects that the kids and their cousins made, and how proud they are of their handywork!!

Singing! I’m also enjoying my younger one’s curiosity and interest. She is a 6yr old 2nd day pesach baby, so maybe it makes sense!

  80. Spending time with family!

  81. My favorite part of the Seder is when the kids where little and we opened the door for Eliyahu the would coming running back to the table to see if he drank any wine. Everytime they swore he did and that he came in and visited us. They fought every year to open the door.
The other part were the critic of the matzah balls if they were too soft or they were “sinker”…one loved soft the other sinkers so every year I alternated and still they fought overy which was the best!

  84. Evelyn Behar says

My favorite part of the Pesach seder is the hand-washing (netilat yadayim). It reminds me of how my Turkish grandmother Corina zt”l used to walk around the table washing all of our hands one by one at her seder. She insisted on doing this even as an elderly woman – such an eishet chayil! Now, the seders I go to entail everyone getting up to wash their hands at the kitchen sink…but G-d willing, one day I’ll re-invoke my beloved grandmother’s tradition at my own Pesach seder!

    • You brought back so many memories to me of my family sedarim. My aunt would walk around the table with a towel draped over her arm and pour water over everyone’s hands. I married an Ashkenazi Jew, and now the sedarim are more his tradition. But I miss the netilat yadayim of my childhood sedarim. To me, getting up and going to the sink is just not the same.

One of these days I’ll succumb to peer pressure and join Pinterest…

  102. My favorite moment takes me back to my childhood, it’s when we sing Chad Gad Yah. When I was a kid growing up, my mother would get impatient knowing that there was a sink full of dishes to get to, that she would begin clearing the table, meanwhile, my dad was leading the singing. I kept going back and forth clearing the table, singing as I was doing it.

  103. Then came the cat that bit the dog that my father bought for 2 zuzzim – ha gad yah ah ah Ha gad ya! And Echad Mi yodayah as fast as we can 🙂

What do you mean, I have to pick just one favorite thing? Pesach is my favorite chag! I love it all (well, not the cleaning so much, but when I’m taking out all those books and wiping the dust off, I find things from when my kids were little … ahh, memories). I love when they go out on an errand and come back in, they take a big whiff and sigh “it smells so GOOD in here, just like Pesach!” … and when they all try to sneak into the kitchen to help me taste-test the knaidlach to see if they’re cooked through … and when my Mother bemoans the fact that she always usd to spill her wine and mess up the tablecloth (to me, those stains are better than tie-dye, they all evoke memories and prove that we had fun) … and when my daughters argue over which haggadah is better … and when they reminisce over their day-school model seder memories … passing around our props and laughing over them … my oldest daughter trying to sneak all the mandlen … O M G, I just can’t pick just one.

  218. I love the family conversations that evolve during Maggid!

  219. So hard to pick a favorite….I think the best is I’ve never thrown a way a single haggadah my kids have made in the last 16 years. We have cartons of them, the kids spend the week before Pesach when they are not cleaning and cooking, reliving and preparing from them… and they bring a pile of them to the seder. Amazing!

  239. Fay Duftler says

My favorite part of the seder is when my kids do the re-enactment of all the plagues. We all sit on couches or chairs in the living room for our seder, with our seder plates on the coffee tables or ottomans. When it’s time for the plagues, the children and their cousins put on a short play, and we recreate each plague, even getting creative with some: turning water into blood (pre-mixed food coloring and pouring into a cup for Pharoah), putting a stuffed fish in a fish tank belly up, throwing plastic locusts and wild stuffed animals at the assembled guests…it gets the children involved and the adults laughing!

  240. Definitely the Four Questions. A long time ago we instituted that as long as the questions were asked the youngest kid wasn’t forced to do them by themself. So we hide things around the table for questions to be asked. You never know what kind of question is going to be asked.
